The Reiffer Ryelands flock was established in 2003 by Gillian and Peter Barr.

We breed “traditional” Ryelands of good quality. This slightly shorter, stockier variety is ideally suited to our needs because they are easier to handle. Their quiet disposition means they are a pleasure to manage and they quickly become members of our extended family!

Ryelands are pretty sheep

Ryelands are polled (have no horns), have fine wool and are extremely hardy. They are happy to live out all year round.

They produce early lambs and on good grass alone you can expect meat-lambs in 12 to 16 weeks.

Fleeces are ideal for hand-spinning and can be up to 3kg in weight, with a staple of up to 10cm. It has a Bradford count of 56-58’s. Both white and coloured are available.

Ryelands are ideal for horse keepers who need grass management around their horses and ponies. The easy nature of Ryelands means that a dog or quad bike are not required to round them up and move them from paddock to paddock and they are a pleasure in themselves to keep.
